A different Centralbron
Centralbron cuts through the heart of Stockholm, carrying road traffic between Södermalm and Norrmalm. Miljöpartiet's proposal would halve the space given to cars and introduce a 3.5-kilometre walking route, with new planting, places to stop, and connections along the waterfront. Pantograf developed a series of images to give the proposal a sense of place. Working from the existing character and structure of Centralbron, the visualisations introduce trees, stone, timber, seating, and everyday activity without losing sight of the infrastructure beneath. The aim was not to imagine a different city, but to show how an existing part of Stockholm might work harder for the people around it.
Seeing the proposition
Large-scale changes to cities can be difficult to communicate through plans and policy alone. The images place the proposal within familiar views of Stockholm, allowing the scale and character of the intervention to be understood almost immediately. Rather than presenting a finished architectural solution, they offer a credible impression of what could be possible: infrastructure reconsidered as public space, and an overlooked route through the city given a new purpose.
